Intern Spotlight: Ross Nakamura
September 3, 2025
One of our two summer 2025 interns, Ross Nakamura, is a recent graduate of the University of Washington, where he majored in Real Estate. For his internship, he worked closely with Vice President Will Schmidt, getting first-hand exposure to some of the commercial real estate basics.
Already having his real estate license, Ross was in a unique position to be able to participate in more tasks than most interns. During his 10-week internship Ross spent considerable time getting to understand the basics of business development efforts and best practices in commercial real estate (CRE) brokerage. He became more familiar with the prospecting process, CRE-specific CRMs, multiple listing services, and refined his skillset across the board.
We wish Ross all the best as he begins his post-college endeavors. His work ethic, persistence, and hustle left a strong impression on Will and the company, and we know he will be successful in his future path. During his last week with NAI PSP, Ross took some time to reflect on his experience.
How did you first learn about NAI?
I first heard about NAI at a real estate career fair during a UW real estate career fair, where I first met Tina, Aspen, and Richard. It was the end of the fair, but they still greeted me warmly and struck up conversation right away! I almost forgot I was at a networking event. How have you applied your major through your internship?
A real estate major gave me general knowledge on the industry, but the sales program gave me a headstart when qualifying prospects and marketing. Sales skills are the most transferable between positions, and I saw this firsthand during the course of my internship. What is the most valuable thing you have learned at NAI PSP?
Besides the people skills, organization and time management skills, I have learned that in brokerage, early sacrifices will pay off greatly in the long run. Financially and time-wise.Describe working at NAI PSP in 3 words.
Teamwork, welcoming, supportive. What is your favorite building in the Puget Sound Region?
My favorite building is the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center. One of the biggest pools in the Pacific Northwest, with 30 feet tall diving boards used for Olympic trials, and where our high school won back to back state titles. What’s your hidden talent?
Drawing.Tell us about the weirdest job you’ve ever had.
Running security at a frat house has to be it for me. You never know who will walk through the door, and there isn't exactly a guest list.
