Intern Spotlight: Sam Taylor
September 11, 2024
We proudly turn the spotlight to Sam Taylor, who made significant contributions as an intern in our Bellevue office this summer. Sam, a dedicated junior real estate major, worked closely with our team, directly under the guidance of brokers Mike George and Tony Rona. Throughout his internship, Sam's primary responsibility was to help build out a tenant database for office buildings in different cities, including Renton, Tukwila, Kent, and Federal Way.
During his time with us, Sam was actively engaged in both field and office work. He began his days by walking through office buildings, documenting current tenants, and estimating the amount of square footage they were using. Once back in the office, his focus shifted to researching these companies to find the primary point of contact and gather crucial information such as lease expiration dates, office sizes, and identifying key decision-makers.
When asked about Sam’s internship, Mike George had this to say:
“With a blend of charisma, intelligence, and drive, our summer intern embodies the perfect mix of qualities needed to thrive in the competitive world of commercial real estate. His exceptional work ethic and goal-oriented mindset set him apart as a potential rising star in the industry. We are sad to see his summer internship come to an end, but we wish him well as he wraps up his senior year at the University of Washington.”
Before Sam returned to school, we asked him about his experience with us, and here’s what he had to say:
How did you first learn about NAI PSP?
“I first learned about NAI through my father who grew up with one of the brokers here.”
How have you applied your major through your internship?
“As a real estate major, I was able to apply my understanding of the real estate market to better analyze the relationship between supply and demand for office spaces in different cities. This experience helped me better understand the desirability of different spaces and what tenants value the most.”
What is the most valuable thing you have learned at NAI PSP?
“The most valuable thing I have learned at NAI PSP is how to interact with and provide for clients. While shadowing Mike George and Tony Rona, I learned the importance of prioritizing clients' needs and how to manage the many diverse roles brokers have throughout setting up deals for their clients.”
Describe working at NAI PSP in 3 words.
“Collaborative, gratifying, client-focused.”
What is your favorite building in Seattle?
“My favorite building in Seattle is the Climate Pledge Arena. Potentially some bias, as I have been to many sporting events and concerts there, which are just terrific, but the building’s incredible interior and exterior design, combined with the one-of-a-kind backdrop, make it one of my favorite buildings in Seattle.”
What’s your hidden talent?
“I have an impressive mouth trumpet.”
What’s the weirdest job you've ever worked?
“The weirdest job I ever worked at had to be working at QFC during COVID. The combination of having to wear gloves and a mask while cleaning, pushing shopping carts around the parking lot, and bagging groceries created a very slow and boring work environment.”
