Broker Spotlight - Richie Sander

Richie Sander is one of our youngest brokers, specializing in sales and leasing of industrial properties in the north King and Snohomish counties. To get to know him better both personally and professionally, we had the following short interview with him.

What advice do you have for prospective NAI PSP candidates?

Come in confident and ready to work hard. No matter how much market knowledge you have, you must actively seek information and understand that there’s always something you can do to improve yourself and your skill set.

How has NAI PSP helped you in your career development?

This is the first firm I’ve worked with as a broker, so I’ve been exposed to a lot of new information and situations I hadn’t experienced in any other workplace. I’ve become a better researcher and communicator since I arrived 3 months ago.

What do you find the most challenging about being a broker?

I must generate my own business and ask a lot of questions because of my lack of experience. Neither of those things are bad, but certainly challenging given how new I am. Being a broker at NAI PSP also comes with far less physical activity than my former job, which has been an adjustment.

Describe working at NAI PSP in 3 words.

Challenging, Collaborative, Motivating

Tell us about the weirdest job you’ve ever had.

Nothing too weird, just chopping wood in the summer for $3 an hour as a kid. I wasn’t even paid in full. That career didn’t last long.

What are your some hobbies?

Baseball, basketball, golf, tennis, fishing, reading.

What’s your hidden talent?

The flute, but it has been a while.

What was the first concert you ever attended?

The Newsboys. My dad danced harder than the whole crowd combined.

What’s your favorite restaurant?

The Metropolitan Grill (Rarely attended, but the clear favorite.)

What’s it like to be a millennial in CRE?

It feels natural, but I’m walking a different path than a lot of people I went to school with. I’m from a small town and most of the people I grew up with haven’t left yet. Being so young in this business is challenging from an experience and credibility standpoint, but it plays to my advantage in some ways. My energy is high, I’m proficient in the technology used today and I’m eager to find new information and experiences that enrich my life, advance my career and allow me to work effectively with my associates.
